📮 Why a newsletter

There’s a chance you’ve read some of my posts in the past. I’ve been posting on social media for a couple years. Gathered about 4k followers around my thoughts, combined with the music of my band, 12kamieni.

I loved it. I hated it.

Social media are… huh. I don’t know. Evil? Surely not all of it. But they’ve done some evil things to me.

I only use YouTube and Pinterest now. I don’t touch TikTok. I kept Instagram and Facebook for communication purposes only. My only real source of short content now is my friend, who relentlessly browses the s%*t of Instagram, mines the gold, and sends it to me through DMs. Protect such friends at all cost.

Here’s why I find short form social media evil - from the two perspectives:

1 - consumer

I’m an artist. I’m a slave to aesthetics. And I can’t resist interesting ideas or images. Now, ninety percent of the world’s ideas are interesting to me. I get inspired by watching others. Sadly, watching this amount of others made my heart seriously sick. There were times I’d scroll reels (boomer) until 4 a.m. and no screen control app could stop me.

Also, after an hour of scrolling I couldn’t say what I just saw. Terrible feeling.

2 - creator

I want the things I make to have an impact. I want people to spend quality time with my ideas. I hate having followers that don’t even know I posted a new post. I hate discussions in comment sections. I hate what short content consumption does to the brains of the people I genuinely care for. Like you. I genuinely care for you. I hate the word “algorithm”.

So why a newsletter?

I want to meet with you on better ground. You’ll read it when you want. My message will compete only against a couple of other emails. Or against literally nothing if you visit my website. And we can discuss it 1:1, with no unnecessary audience. Just reply to any email from me that you find interesting.

It’s my little war against the evil side of the internet. I thought about it for 4 years. For sure it’s not perfectly set up yet. I’ll fix it along the way. For now, let’s just start.

Wdyt?

🐛 Now can you try to not go anywhere further yet? No next posts, another page, another mail, or app. Just spending next 3 minutes here with me, letting what you’ve just read sink in. You may unexpectedly enjoy it.
